Time flies, lots of things are happening, and I am seriously falling behind blogging about the progress on Founder2be.
And no, we did not get a million dollars in funding. If we had, our office would look like this:
Initially, we thought that while everyone has some skills and time, nobody really has any money. Looking back, that of course wasn’t true.
It is true that most of us do not have that much money to outright hire a small team and employee people for a pay check. That’s part of the motivation for co-founding. But most of us also have a bit of money that we usually spend on going out with friends, watching movies, etc. That’s money we could equally well spend on making our dreams come true.
Just as with the skill sets, there is diversity, and some could contribute more than others. On Founder2be, you can find a co-founder who is able to contribute, in addition to their skills and time, also financially anywhere from 100 USD to 20,000 USD or more.
The total funding available to co-founders meeting on Founder2be has already exceeded the 1,000,000 dollar threshold.
So, when we organize a meet-up and everybody brings what they say they can chip in, then we can take a group photo like the above. We’ll probably also have to bring along some security then.
While the entire sum isn’t available for any single project - good luck dealing with 1000s of co-founders in the same startup ;) - the funding available to any two or three person co-founding team is certainly enough to get things going. And once you get started, keep going to the point when you can prove traction. Then you have a shot at securing funding from external sources at much better valuation than with slide ware only.
Founder2be really is the proverbial powder keg: skilled people united by their motivation to make dreams come true, the time necessary to make it happen, and just a little bit of funding to get started, are a powerful combination ready to explode and unleash the force of entrepreneurship.
May the force be with you.
