China’s startups on the rise

China is the second most powerful economy in the world. During the global downturn brought about by the subprime crisis in the U.S. in 2008, the world was counting on China as the motor to keep the world economy going. With Europe’s woes adding to the global economic uncertainty, once again all eyes are on China.

Mary Meeker’s recent presentation Internet trends highlights China’s increasing dominance not only in manufacturing of goods, both basic and high tech, but also in the ever more important Internet businesses. 2 out of the top 10 Internet businesses are Chinese with the Baidu being the biggest one at 5th position just behind Apple, Google, Amazon and Facebook. Tencent with a market capitalization of USD 40B+ is 7th in the top ten.

This success spurs the ambition of Chinese entrepreneurs who are working hard and are eager to take more positions in the top ten.

One of the places where the next generation of Chinese startups is in the works is Chinaccelerator, member of the Techstars Network. Chinaccelerator is China’s first mentorship-driven seed funding program, which holds seasonal programs fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Sounds familiar? Yes, you are right: Fostering innovation and entrepreneurship is what Founder2be is all about! You can imagine how excited we are to announce that Chinaccelerator is joining the Founder2be Global Alliance Program.

There are a lot of talented entrepreneurs with innovative ideas, awesome plans and sometimes their own start-up or a beta product. It can be hard for young entrepreneurs to raise seed capital, develop the right connections, gain validation and build a team to expand their business. This is where Chinaccelerator comes in.

Chinaccelerator provides access not only to seed funding, but more importantly to a knowledgeable network of mentors. Their first batch of start-ups was hosted in 2010 and already in 2011 the nine technology start-ups graduating at Demo day in Beijing attracted over 200 angels and investors from all over Asia.
And there is always one question startups ask from Chinaccelerator: to recommend talented people to help them build their teams. Some of them need web designers, marketing and experienced salesmen and others as co-founders.

As a member in the Founder2be Global Alliance Program, Chinaccelerator can now connect their startups to the thousands of ambitious entrepreneurs and co-founders looking to start and join the world’s best startups, to further accelerate the speed at which these startups innovate.

If you are working with an incubator, accelerator, university or another organization supporting entrepreneurship and innovation, apply to join the growing Founder2be Global Alliance Program and give your startups an extra advantage.
